How It Works
A clear process from sign-up to closing: our system for the paperwork, a Texas attorney for the legal work.
A Guided Process, Start to Finish
Most uncontested probate work is routine. You should not have to pay hourly rates for it, or guess what it will cost.
Executors Resource pairs a guided probate system with a Texas law firm. Our system handles the paperwork from your answers, our probate specialists handle the practical work, and a Texas attorney handles the legal work and the hearing.
You pay a platform fee when you start and an attorney fee only after the attorney’s work is done. The steps below show what happens and when.
For the hearing, a licensed Texas attorney appears with you. It may be one of our attorneys or a Texas attorney we engage to appear for our firm, and we tell you who before the hearing.
If a dispute comes up, or the estate turns out to be more complex than it first looked, we stop and talk with you about your options, which may include a referral to a firm that handles contested estates.
The Steps
1. Choose Your Service and Pay Online
Pick the service that fits the estate and pay the platform fee. No consultation is needed to start. Not sure which one fits? Take the 2-minute quiz.
2. Intake Call and 3-Business-Day Evaluation
We go through the estate with you in detail and look for issues such as disputes, minor beneficiaries, creditors who will go unpaid, heirs with unknown addresses, or a pending foreclosure. Then you sign your engagement agreement, and we open your portal. During the first 3 business days, either of us can end the engagement for any reason, and we refund your platform fee, less any court filing fees or other costs already paid.
3. Build Your Documents, Then Attorney Review
You answer the questions in the portal, and the system fills in the application and supporting documents from our Texas court templates. You upload them for review, a Texas attorney reviews them, and you sign where needed. Our probate specialists e-file them once the court costs are paid (we send a payment link for the county’s exact charge), or you can file a reviewed document yourself. They also handle scheduling, citation, and notices.
4. The Hearing
A Texas attorney prepares you for the hearing and appears with you. You enter your card for the $600 attorney fee in the portal shortly before the hearing, and it is charged only after the hearing, once the judge signs the order. The attorney fee covers up to 2 hours of attorney time. If your estate needs legal work beyond your service, such as serving an heir who will not sign, you can hire our attorney for it from your portal at a separate charge. In an administration, the court then issues letters so you can act for the estate.
5. After the Hearing
For administrations, the system builds the inventory, creditor notices, and other filings included in your service, and the portal shows you what comes next.
Contested or Complex Estate?
If there is a will contest, a family dispute, or a large or complex estate, our standard service is not the right fit. We can refer you to a firm that handles those matters.
