How It Works

A clear, guided process from the first call to final distribution.

A Guided Process, Start to Finish

Why pay an attorney billable rates to do administrative work?

We provide tools for you to handle uncontested estates — cases that follow the same steps as any other probate, but don’t need an attorney driving them, because the work is largely a matter of completing standard forms and meeting each requirement the law sets and checking the boxes in order.

With your attorney’s review, we provide templates for you to prepare your documents, step by step guidance to work through the court process and administration, access to our 300+ page knowledge base to provide explanations–to allow you to be the driver to keep the moving parts moving.

For the court component of uncontested cases, your attorney handles this as they normally would. They review your documents and to stand with you at the hearing and provide any legal advice. If needed and part of the scope, we can also bring in licensed tax professionals to prepare the estate’s tax returns. We hire and pay those professionals, so you know your cost up front and never get a separate bill for every call or email.

If a dispute arises and your case becomes contested, we pause our work, since contested matters call for an attorney you retain directly to represent you.

The Steps

1. Consult with Your Attorney

We learn about the estate and come up with a game plan — full administration or a simpler alternative.

2. You Prepare Your Documents

You prepare the application and supporting forms from the information you provide in the portal, using our lawyer-approved forms.

3. Attorney Review and Court Hearing

Your independent attorney reviews the documents and handles the court hearing when one is required.

4. Administration

The step-by-step instructions in the portal guide you to notify creditors, inventory assets, settle valid debts, and keep the estate on track. Our 300+ page knowledge base provides detailed explanations along the way.

5. Closing the Estate

We help with final distribution and, if needed, coordinate the estate’s tax returns so everything is properly wrapped up.

Bring Your Own Attorney

Prefer to use your own attorney? We welcome that. We’re happy to work alongside the attorney you already know and trust. Our platform handles the bulk of the work — giving you the templates and software to prepare your documents, tracking your deadlines, and keeping everything moving — just as it would if we connected you with one of our participating attorneys, while your attorney reviews the work and represents you. You pay your attorney directly as normal.
